What is the offline feature?
The offline recording feature is a simplified version of Magic Notes that allows you to record and save recordings even when you don't have an internet connection. However, to upload and access your recordings, you will need to return to Magic Notes on the same device and browser once you are back online.

Steps to follow when using Magic Notes Offline
1. Before your visit
- On the morning of your visit, simply log in to magicnotes.ai on the device you plan to use (e.g., your work phone).
- That's it. You are now prepared for offline use for the rest of the day. You can close the tab, switch apps, or lock your phone. You do not need to keep Magic Notes open.
After logging in, do not clear your browser's cache or cookies. Doing so will log you out ahead of your visit and you will not be able to record when offline.
2. While you're offline
- When you are ready to start, open your device's browser and go to magicnotes.ai. (Make sure you are using the correct URL and not going to www.magicnotes.ai/login)
- The page will clearly display that you are 'Offline'.
- Press the record button to begin your conversation.
- Just like the online version, you must keep the Magic Notes tab open and active on your screen while you are recording.
- When you stop the recording, it will be safely stored in a 'Pending' tab on your Magic Notes homepage.
3. Before your visit When you are re-connected to the internet (back home/office)
- Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- Open magicnotes.ai on the exact same device you used for recording.
- Magic Notes will begin uploading your pending recording. Leave the tab open until the upload is complete.
What can I do with the offline recording feature?
| What you can do | What you can't do |
| Load the Magic Notes website (provided you have visited it online previously on the same device and browser) | View the summary of any recording |
| Start a new recording | Listen to recordings |
| Save your recording | View transcripts |
| Upload documents or audio files | |
| Use Magic Notes as a dedicated mobile application (it remains a website) | |
| Log in to Magic Notes. You must have an active session before going offline |
Do I need to do anything specific to use offline recording?
No, Magic Notes will automatically detect when you are offline and the recording process while offline is the same as the online experience.
Where is the recording kept?
The audio will be stored in small ‘chunks’ in the browser cache, waiting for upload when you get back online
Can I log in to Magic Notes if I don't have an internet connection?
No, you need an active internet connection to log in to Magic Notes. You must be logged in and have visited magicnotes.ai online on your device and browser before going offline for the offline recording feature to work.
How much can I record while offline?
Currently, the system is designed to temporarily store up to approximately 8 hours of recording. However, the actual limit depends on the available storage space on the device you are using, as the audio 'chunks' are stored in the browser's temporary storage. Magic Notes will display a warning message if your device storage is running low, suggesting you delete files to free up space.
You can record multiple Magic Notes whilst offline.
How do I access my offline recordings once I'm back online?
When your device regains internet connectivity and you visit the Magic Notes website again on the same browser and device, the cached audio 'chunks' will automatically begin to upload. Once the upload is complete, the recording will be available in your Magic Notes account as usual, accessible from any device.
Will Magic Notes work offline on laptops, tablets, and mobile phones?
Yes, Magic Notes will function offline on any device that can run a compatible web browser (like Edge or Chrome) and has the ability to connect to the internet both before starting an offline session and after to upload the recordings.
