If refinement is taking longer than expected to load, this is usually related to browser compatibility or network connectivity rather than an issue with Magic Notes itself.
What to check first
Browser
Please make sure you are using a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version
Try disabling any browser extensions that may interfere with real-time connections, such as ad blockers or privacy tools
Network and connectivity
Magic Notes relies on a secure real-time connection (WebSockets) to generate refinements
Your network or firewall must allow secure WebSocket (WSS) connections over port 443, which is the same port used for standard HTTPS traffic
Some VPNs, proxies, or network security tools may interrupt long-lived connections, which can cause refinements to stall or take longer than expected
Things to try
Refresh the page and retry the refinement
Try accessing Magic Notes on a different network, such as a non-office Wi-Fi connection
If the issue only happens on your work network, please ask your IT team to review firewall or proxy settings
You can also use an online WebSocket test tool to check whether secure WebSocket connections are supported on your network. We recommend this one: https://websocket.tech/
If the issue persists, please contact Support on beam@magicnotes.ai with details of your browser and network setup.
