Overview

The DST Builder is an all-in-one digital tool that makes creating assessments faster and easier. Instead of doing everything manually, it reads through documents for you, points out any missing information, and creates a clear summary before your meeting. During team discussions, you can take notes directly in the tool, and when you’re done, it automatically creates a fully formatted report ready to send off.

🚀 How to Access the DST Builder

1. Log into your Beam account.

2. In the left-hand sidebar navigation on your homepage, click the DST Builder button.

3. Click the Build new DST button to initiate a new assessment process.

Stage 1: Document Upload & Gap Identification

1. Upload Relevant Records: Either drag and drop or click Upload Files to attach all medical notes, care plans, and clinical documents relevant to the individual's DST assessment.

2. Automated Gap Analysis: Beam Notes automatically reviews all attached documents and identifies any missing clinical information or evidence gaps.

3. Resolving Identified Gaps:

   • Click Upload Document to add missing files/evidence.

   • Or click Skip if no additional documents are available.

4. Proceeding: Once gaps are reviewed, click Continue to Review Pre-read at the top of the screen.

Stage 2: Reviewing & Editing the Pre-Read

The generated pre-read provides a structured foundation prior to the MDT meeting:

• Pre-Read Structure: Starts with a Pen Portrait, Current Package of Care, and a Brief Clinical Summary, followed by domain-by-domain summaries of all uploaded evidence.

• Checking Source Documents: Click the chain link icon at the top right to pull up original source documents in a side-by-side view.

• Domain Navigation: Use the left-hand navigation bar to quickly jump between clinical domains.

• Direct Editing: Click and type anywhere within any text box to edit, delete, or append custom clinical notes.

💡 Best Practice Tip for MDT Meetings:

Open your Beam Notes pre-read on your laptop while recording the MDT discussion on a separate browser tab or mobile phone. You can type directly into the pre-read during the meeting and use the domain summaries to guide team discussion.

Stage 3: Incorporating the MDT Meeting

Once the MDT meeting is complete, incorporate the discussion into the assessment:

1. Click Add MDT Meeting at the top of the screen.

2. Select an existing meeting recording or note saved in your Beam Notes account.

3. Alternatively, click Skip if you typed your notes manually during the meeting or did not record audio.

4. Click Continue to Final Review.

Stage 4: Final Review, Level Selection & Export

1. Integrated Discussion Summaries: The Final Review incorporates MDT meeting summaries into each domain (if uploaded).

2. Clinical Reasoning & Editing: Review all sections, edit text as needed, and add additional clinical reasoning.

3. Selecting Domain Levels: Select the appropriate level of need (e.g., Low, Moderate, High, Severe, Priority) for each domain.

4. Exporting to Word: Click Download DOCX at the top right.📄 National Template Export:The file exports directly into the official National DST Word Template. All selected domain levels are automatically highlighted in the correct sections, ready for final review and submission.
