Accidentally deleted a note? In many cases, we can help you get it back, but it depends on your organisation's specific data settings.
How Recovery Works
When you delete a note, it enters a "Safety Buffer" period. We can restore your note if:
- You deleted it manually.
- The retention period has not passed. ### What is a Retention Period? For security and GDPR compliance, every organisation has a set Retention Period (e.g., 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year).
- Before the Date: We can usually "undo" the deletion and place the note back in your account.
- After the Date: Once a note reaches the end of the retention period, it is permanently purged from our servers to protect your privacy. At this stage, no one—not even the Beam Notes team—can retrieve it.
How to Request a Restoration
If you believe your note is still within its retention window:
- Find the Details: Try to remember the approximate title or the date the note was originally recorded.
- Contact Support: Raise a ticket with the subject "Note Restoration Request."
- Wait for Confirmation: Our team will check the archives and, if the retention date hasn't passed, we will restore it to your "My Notes" folder within 24 hours.
Please note that the data retention period between organisations can change at any time. You should be informed by the project leads within your organisation if this is going to change.
