This guide helps you troubleshoot issues when a Beam Note gets stuck during generation.

Why is my Beam Note stuck?
If your file seems stuck on the "drafting your note" screen, it is usually due to a file processing error. Review the requirements below to ensure your files are optimised for upload:
| Issue | Requirement / Recommendation |
|---|---|
| File Size & Length | Documents over 100 pages may fail to process. We recommend splitting large documents into smaller sections and uploading them separately. |
| Encryption | Encrypted or password-protected files cannot be processed by the system. Please remove security restrictions before uploading. |
| File Location | Files must be saved locally on your device, not hosted exclusively in the cloud. |
| Images & Quality | Files with excessive images can cause timeouts. Furthermore, images of written documents must be clear and high-resolution. Blurry or low-resolution text may fail to process or result in inaccurate notes. |
Quick Fixes
If your note is stuck, try these simple steps to resolve the issue:
Split large documents into smaller, individual files.
Save a fresh, local copy of the file directly to your device.
Compress or remove images if the file is image-heavy.
How to Re-upload Your Files
Once you have applied the quick fixes above, you can re-upload your files using one of two methods:
Method 1: Re-upload in a New Note
Return to your main landing page (where you see all your created Beam Notes and Documents).
Click Create a new Beam Document.
Upload your updated files.
Method 2: Re-upload in the Same Note
Open the existing, stuck note.
Click the
+ Add more filesbutton located in the top-left corner.Upload your updated file to re-trigger the generation.
