Using the ‘Chat’ feature in Magic Notes is an easy way to customise your summaries, ensuring they align with the requirements for the report you need to complete and your preferred style. By understanding how to use ‘Chat’ effectively, you can get more accurate, detailed, and personalised summaries.
This guide will help you master the feature, so you can get the most out of your Magic Notes summaries.
How to write a request in ‘Chat’
- Be Clear and Specific: The clearer and more specific your request, the better the AI can tailor the summary to your needs. Avoid vague instructions, and be sure to include what you want anything changed from as well as to.
- Use Simple Language: Keep your requests simple and straightforward. The tool responds best to direct instructions without complex or confusing wording.
- Focus on One Change at a Time: If you need multiple amendments, you submit them one at a time, or all together. Remember to be clear about each one as this makes it easier for the tool to follow your request accurately.
- Provide Examples: When possible, give examples with your request to guide the tool on what you’re looking for.
💡A good rule of thumb is to imagine you are sending a message to an assistant, asking them to make the changes you want to see in the summary
What - Where - How
You can use these three steps as a guide when requesting a change:
✅ What? - What do you want the AI to do? (eg. “rewrite”, “summarise”, “extract”)
✅ Where? - Where should the change be applied? (eg. paragraph, heading, whole summary)
✅ How? - How should it be done? (eg. strengths-based, concise, as an email)
