This article is a guide on how to create a shortcut to Beam Notes for the following browsers and systems: Chrome & Edge on Windows Desktop and Chrome & Edge on Mac Desktop. Please select the relevant section for you below. Note: Please do NOT install Beam Notes as an ‘app’ - this will not work.
Chrome - Windows Desktop
- Step 1 - Open beam.org
- Step 2 - Click the three dots in the top right corner of your browser to open Chrome’s menu
- Step 3 - Click on ‘Cast, save and share’
- Step 4 - Click ‘Create shortcut’

Step 5 - This will open up a pop-up where you can name your shortcut and save it by clicking ‘Create’.

Step 6 - This will now be a desktop shortcut on your background screen! Double clicking it will open up Beam Notes in Chrome.
- Step 7 - Drag and drop the shortcut from your desktop background onto your bottom task bar and it will just be a click away, regardless of what else you have open.
Edge - Windows Desktop
- Step 1 - Open beam.org in Edge
- Step 2 - Click the three dots in the top right corner of your browser to open Edge’s menu
- Step 3 - Click on ‘More tools’
- Step 4 - Click ‘Pin to taskbar’ (you can also pin to your Start here, if you wish).
- Step 5 - On the pop-up that appears in the bottom right of your screen, click ‘Yes’
- Step 6 - You will now have Beam Notes pinned to your taskbar and can click it at any time to open up in Edge.
Chrome - Mac Desktop
- Step 1 - Open beam.org
- Step 2 - Click the three dots in the top right corner of your browser to open Chrome’s menu
- Step 3 - Click on ‘Cast, save and share’
- Step 4 - Click ‘Create shortcut’
- Step 5 - This will open up a pop-up where you can name your shortcut and save it by clicking ‘Create’.
- Step 6 - This will now be a desktop shortcut on your background screen! Double clicking it will open up Beam Notes in Chrome.
Edge - Mac Desktop
- Step 1 - Open beam.org in Edge

Step 2 - Ensure the desktop home screen is visible by reducing edge browser window size.

Step 3 - Click on and drag the padlock/Beam notes address in URL bar across to desktop.
- Step 4 - You’ll now have Beam Notes shortcut on your Mac desktop!
